PRIVACY NOTICE
This privacy notice explains how we, the Health and Ageing Law Lab (HALL) at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), collect and process personal data generated from participants who register to attend the 4th Health, Ethics, Law and Technology (HELT) Symposium (henceforth, 'HELT Symposium'. Any personal data we collect is processed in compliance with the GDPR as implemented in Belgium, as well as relevant VUB policies.
DATA COLLECTION
When you register to attend the HELT Symposium through the event's dedicated website, we collect the following personal information:
- Name
- Email address
- Organization details
PURPOSE OF PROCESSING
The personal information that we collect from you is used for the following purposes:
- To complete your registration for the HELT Symposium
- To provide information / updates related to the event
- To facilitate communications with registered participants to the event
- To announce future HELT activities and events organised by HALL
- To receive the HALL newsletter or other updates of interest to the HELT community
NEWSLETTER AND UPDATES
When you agree to be added to the HELT mailing list, any personal information that we collect and process (i.e name, email adress, organisation details) is used for this purpose only. We do not disclose any of your personal data to third parties.
DATA SHARING
We will not share your personal data with any third parties. We don’t sell or monetise your personal data.
DATA RETENTION
We retain your personal information to fulfill the necessary purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law.
DATA SECURITY
We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
RIGHTS OF THE DATA SUBJECTS
Under the GDPR, you have the following rights with respect to your personal information:
- Right of access: You have the right to access your personal information that we hold about you.
- Right of rectification: You have the right to request that we correct any inaccuracies in your personal information.
- Right to erasure: You have the right to request that we delete your personal information.
- Right to restriction of processing: You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal information.
- Right to data portability: You have the right to receive your personal information in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, and to have your personal information transmitted to another controller.
