Wannes is a researcher at KU Leuven CiTiP, working in the flemish Knowledge Centre Data and Society. His research areas include regulation around AI and data, as well as liability. In the Knowledge Centre he focuses on sharing information and knowledge around regulation to various stakeholders in the AI ecosystem and contributing to the development of legal guidelines.

Lotte Cools is a research associate at CiTiP, working with the Knowledge Centre Data & Society. She focuses on topics related to AI, Data Governance, and Data Protection. Additionally, she is involved in a feasibility study for a Flemish Health Data Space. Lotte earned her master’s degree from Ghent University and has previously worked as an MEP intern in the European Parliament and in the Litigation Chamber at the Belgian Supervisory Authority.

Pierre joined the KU Leuven Centre for IT & IP in October 2017 where he conducts interdisciplinary research on privacy engineering, smart cities and algorithmic transparency. His main research track seeks to bridge the gap between software engineering practices and data protection regulations by creating a common conceptual framework for both disciplines and providing decision and trade-off support for technical and organisational mitigation strategies in the software development life-cycle. He is also involved in multiple enforcement actions challenging the application of the General Data Protection Regulation to new technologies such as programmatic advertising and artificial intelligence

Gert-Jan Fraeyman.  is a senior associate at Van Bael & Bellis’ commercial, litigation and regulatory department. His practice includes advising clients on and assisting clients with contracting (drafting and negotiating commercial and IT/outsourcing contracts), commercial law and IP law, including dispute resolution, as well as data protection and other recent EU legislation, including of course the upcoming AI Act.

"Hoe meer we gedigitaliseerd leven, hoe meer we gepersonaliseerde beslissingen krijgen op basis van onze informatie." Heyman heeft als doel bloot te leggen hoe deze dingen werken en mensen te laten begrijpen wat er met data gebeurt. Hij vindt het merkwaardig dat er zo weinig bekend is over data in het tijdperk van big data. Zijn methode bestaat erin het verborgen leven van gegevens bloot te leggen door deze processen in kaart te brengen in licht verteerbare teksten, scenario's en visuals. Vervolgens gebruiken hij en zijn team co-creatiesessies om de huidige praktijken in kaart te brengen met de verwachtingen van eindgebruikers, regelgevers of vernieuwers.

Jonne is een ontwerper en onderzoeker met een focus op de relatie tussen mens en technologie. Binnen het Kenniscentrum Data & Maatschappij werkt ze aan de ondersteuning van professionals en organisaties voor de verantwoordelijke ontwikkeling en implementatie van data- en AI-toepassingen. Haar focus ligt op de vertaling van ethiek naar de praktijk, de ontwikkeling van ethische tools, en het waarborgen van werkbaar werk bij technologie op de werkvloer.

Willemien is project- en communicatiemedewerker bij het Kenniscentrum Data & Maatschappij. Het Kenniscentrum is de centrale hub voor maatschappelijke, juridische en ethische aspecten van datagedreven toepassingen en AI. Ze ondersteunt organisaties in het praktiseren van ethische waarden in innovatieprojecten, en focust hierbij onder meer op het betrekken van werknemers bij innovatieprocessen.
