Pastas is an open-source Python package to analyze hydro(geo)logical time series. Pastas provides a scientific framework to develop and test new methods as a reliable, ready-to-use software tool for practitioners and researchers engaged in groundwater. All code is available on the Pastas GitHub. Pastas is a powerful tool to bridge the gap between science and practice and shorten the time between scientific discoveries and their real-world applications. The workshop will be provided by Dr. Raoul Collenteur

A basic knowledge of Python is requiered for the course. Please, have installed Python in your computer before the course.

Dr. Raoul Collenteur is a groundwater hydrologist and researcher working on the development of methods and software tools to solve real-world groundwater problems. He is the lead developer of PASTAS, an open-source Python software used worldwide to analyze and model groundwater level time series. His main research focus is to learn about groundwater system functioning from the information contained in groundwater level time series.

Besides groundwater, Dr. Collenteur is interested in other parts of the hydrological system affecting groundwater resources, such as unsaturated zone processes, evaporation, and spring discharge. As a Postdoctoral researcher at the Swiss Institute for Water Research (Eawag), Raoul is currently researching how to forecast groundwater levels in Switzerland and how to analyze groundwater data using a novel concept called groundwater signatures.
