Where do I need to be, and when?
After registering for your Welcome Day(s), you’ll receive the schedule in your VUB mailbox. This email will list exactly when and where you’re expected.

Didn’t receive the programme? Check your spam folder.
Still having trouble? Contact the Student Information Office via info@vub.be or +32 (0)2 629 20 10.

How do I get there?
Orientation days take place at the Main Campus (Etterbeek) and the Health Campus (Jette). Plan your route in advance using the campus maps and Google Maps.

We encourage sustainable travel – come on foot, by bike, or via public transport if possible.
If that’s not feasible, be sure to register your car’s licence plate in advance via this link. This will give you access to the campus via licence plate recognition.

⚠️ Note: registration doesn’t guarantee a parking spot – spaces are limited!

Do I need to take the compulsory assessments even if I already did a summer test or entrance exam?
Yes. The compulsory assessments during Orientation days measure different skills than those tested in summer assessments or entrance exams. These are designed by VUB and focus on the prior knowledge and academic skills you’ll need for your programme.

I already have higher education experience. Do I still need to attend Orientation days?
If you’ve studied the same subject at another university or already hold a bachelor’s degree, it’s still best to attend. Orientation days give you essential information about your programme at VUB, the chance to meet fellow students, and include compulsory assessments.

Changing programmes, faculties, or institutions? Definitely come to Orientation days – they’re essential for a smooth transition.

What should I bring to Orientation days?

  • Your laptop – you’ll need it for the "Ready, Set, Go!" session and the compulsory assessments.

  • Your student card, if you’ve already received it.

  • If you have to take a maths, chemistry, or physics diagnostic test: just bring writing materials. No calculator or periodic table is needed.

What about lunch, food, and drinks?
You can buy a sandwich or hot meal at student prices in the VUB cafeteria or restaurant – or you’re welcome to bring your own lunch.

During the campus festival, free waffles and drinks will be available while supplies last.

Who has to take the compulsory assessments?
That depends on your programme and the language of instruction. Check the schedule for details.

I can’t attend my Welcome Day – what now?
Your academic year starts with your Welcome Day. It’s vital that every student begins strong. The day contains crucial information that won’t be repeated later, and activities like the campus tour and festival help you quickly get to know your professors and fellow students.

We expect you to rearrange your schedule to attend. Don’t miss out!

I can’t find my programme when registering – what now?
If you’re enrolled in a bachelor’s, preparatory, bridging, or master’s programme, your degree should appear during registration.
