THE VENUE
The NECTAR conference will be organized by the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and hosted on its campus in Brussels. VUB is an Urban Engaged University in Brussels, the heart of Europe. 20,000 students, nearly a quarter of them from abroad, are engaged in building their future and that of the world. With top-quality scientific research and customised education, VUB makes an active and engaged contribution to a better and more sustainable society.
The University can be reached easily by public transport as the railway station of Etterbeek is next to the campus. The sessions of the conference will take place in Building I. Below you can find a map of the campus.
How to reach the VUB Main Campus
The VUB Main Campus is located in Ixelles (B-1050) at Pleinlaan 2 and is very easy to reach by public transport. We therefore recommend using one of the following options:
- The VUB Main Campus is located right next to the Etterbeek train station with easy connections from Brussels-Centre, Brussels Airport and all train stations in Belgium. For a detailed timetable, please visit the website of the NMBS.
- You can also easily take Metro line 5 from Brussels Centre, including from Brussels Central and Brussels Shuman train stations, and get off at Pétillon metro station. Plan your journey on the STIB-MIVB website.
- Both tram 7 and tram 25 run past the VUB, get off at tram station VUB or Etterbeek Station. Plan your journey on the STIB-MIVB website.
- Various buses run to the VUB: buses 34, 36, 61, 95 and 348 pass at the Main Campus. You can also find out your bus ride on the STIB-MIVB website.
If you come by car, you have free access to our campus and parking for the duration of the event. First of all, you need to register the number plate of your car in our system via this special link. If everything went well, you will receive a confirmation e-mail from the system with more information about the parking regulations, among other things.
On the day of the event, we advise you to take ENTRY 13. Due to the various buildings on campus, it is currently not possible to drive from one side of the campus to the other, so it is recommended to use this specific entrance. You drive up to the barrier, the cameras detect your license plate and access is granted. After the event you can follow the same procedure to leave our campus.
Attention: this access to the campus is limited to 23:59 on the day of the event itself. This registration does not automatically grant access to the campus on another day or long-term parking after the event.
More information about the accessibility to the VUB Main Campus and a campus plan can be found on this VUB website page.
