OceanConnectXL Alumni Event

For 40 years, the master’s programmes in marine and freshwater sciences in Flanders have been building a strong, international community of scientists and professionals. On 16 November 2026, the OceanConnectXL Alumni Event will bring this community back together at VUB aan Zee in Ostend. Alumni from different generations will meet for a day of inspiration, exchange, and networking focused on ocean (and freshwater) research and management.

The event is primarily aimed at alumni of marine and freshwater master’s programmes in Flanders (Oceans & Lakes, IMBRSea, TROPIMUNDO and earlier programmes). Alumni from other master’s programmes with a strong link to marine or freshwater science (such as MSc Biology or Human Ecology) are also welcome.
