The Academic Opening will take place this year at the European Parliament, followed by a reception in the garden of the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (aka the Dino Museum).

Please note that there is no parking available at either location and the limited parking spaces in the area are both small and expensive. We strongly recommend that everyone come by public transport. Both locations are situated near Luxembourg Square and are easily accessible by public transport.

  • The European Parliament is located right next to the Brussels-Luxembourg train station with easy connections from Brussels-Centre, Brussels Airport and all train stations in Belgium. For a detailed timetable, please visit the website of the NMBS.
  • You can take metro lines 1 and 5 and alight at Schuman metro station, from which it is a 10 minute walk to the European Parliament. Bus lines 12, 21, 27, 34, 38, 64, 80 and 95 have stops on the Place du Luxembourg nearby the European Parliament. Plan your journey on the STIB-MIVB website.

If you’re planning to come by car and want to avoid expensive parking costs, you can park on the VUB Main campus and then take the train from Etterbeek Station to Luxembourg Station. The train ride is only 5 minutes.
