Beyond the Omnibus: Legacy and Realignment in EU Digital Regulation
The Brussels Privacy Hub Summer Academy will examine how the EU digital rulebook is being reshaped through the simplification agenda and the Digital Omnibus, set against the enduring resilience of the GDPR and the expanding influence of newer instruments such as the Digital Services Act, Digital Markets Act, the Data Act, the Cyber Resilience Act and the AI Act.
The Academy will examine how core legal principles are stretched by recent case law, reshaped by new legislative proposals, and progressively specified through increasingly detailed regulatory guidance, all within a dense, interconnected regulatory landscape. It will highlight overlapping rules, implementation challenges and opportunities, and explore the expected impact of current efforts to align multiple instruments, especially in the context of global data flows and the international race to AI. Ultimately, it will put the urgency of building a workable, sovereign model for governing and reusing data to the test, examining how innovation, compliance, and fundamental rights can be balanced in practice.
Through expert-led discussions grounded in real-world practice, the Summer Academy will equip participants to identify areas of enduring continuity and realignment, and to anticipate how these shifts are likely to impactcompliance strategies, data and AI governance frameworks, and the overall trajectory of the EU digital rulebook.
Certificate: At the end of the course, each participant will receive a certificate indicating their completion of the program.
